Mostly disappointed.

In the first Outtakes clip, Kano's scene was seriously gay. But that was OK, it was one in a whole set of scenes, and most of the others were hilarious. Not so this time. I started watching from the top left (Rain) and found myself moaning when the good ones were finally going to start. Sektor is a blatant copy of Randy Solem's MK: Director's Cut. I don't know if you meant it as a reference or a parody, but it didn't work. It wasn't until Kitana that I had my first laugh - that one was clever. Ermac's was good too. Scorpion's; I got really, really sick of the l33t speech. Jokes like that went out about five minutes before they came in. On Cyrax I was actually hoping you wouldn't do the Peanut Butter Jelly song again... it was so hilarious the first time, and you did it again without even trying to make it innovative or different. There wasn't even a background. If it was meant to be an in-joke for viewers of the last one... it failed. It just looked like a weak attempt at cashing in on the previous one's success. Kabal was a funny one again. Kirk popping in on Liu Kang's one made me laugh, as did a few of the other Toast-parodizing characters. Basically, the rest were crap. Not enough thought put into it, not enough effort put into it, or both. So much crappy blobs of color, so many crappy pictures falling on characters... made me think back to how bad the Animalities were in MK3. I'm sorry to be harsh, but I think the previous success made you lazy.

Dizzy.

I don't know. It may not be specifically for pro- or anti-Pokémon people, I think it's a lot less enjoyable for those who are not used to the style of those games. I got rather dizzy from the constant flipping back and forth, fade-in fade-outs, text screens popping up and flashing attacks. Plus I never find turn-based fighting very exciting, but that's a personal note. I did get a kick out of some of the videogame references. But all in all, it's a little too... crazy for my taste. Obviously, a lot of people don't agree with me, though. And the amount of work you put into it is showing.

P.S. I missed what the attack with the duck(?) from space was called, but I think it should be called "Orbital Mallard Armageddon".

Truly, the king of video game parodies.

I'm amazed at the detail and life you manage to bring to all these sprites and backgrounds. There's no cutting corners whatsoever, constantly something to look at, and everything looks creative and imaginative. The use of all the game elements (like the climbing vines, the Tanooki suit, the fireflower, and the Lakitus... is that what they're called? The little guys on clouds?) is hilarious. And while the funeral scene is so stylish it actually gets touching, it's good to see your own brand of humor returning in the attack on the castle. Excellent.

P.S. I was a little annoyed at first at the constantly present Paypal and Tell-a-friend buttons. But then I thought, you've got an obvious hit here and you're providing free entertainment. No reason why you shouldn't be allowed to make use of that. Rock on.

Amazing 8-bit work.

It's truly amazing what you managed to do with just a bunch of 3-color 8-bit sprites. For movies like this the score system is kind of inadequate, I gave humor a 0 to indicate that this movie is 100% serious, but it seems like I'm grading you badly. Oh well. This may have been said so many times you're sick of hearing it, but this movie would've been perfect with vector graphics rather than pixels. I've done nearly nothing but pixel stuff myself in Flash, but some nice traced drawings of Koopas and Goombas with black outlines would've solved the problem of them becoming a mass of color when they're all gathered together (though you solved that in part by not animating all their eyes at the same time, and using some darker or faded tones for some), and Mario and Luigi wouldn't have looked so skewed when they're rotated. That aside, you've got a great sense of style. Time to check out the sequel.

Nice job.

Haven't seen the movie "the One", but I understood the concept well enough. There were a few style issues in my opinion; I didn't really understand your choice to use the Clockwork Orange music for the intro, and the dialogue would've been less stop-and-go if you'd used a smaller font. However, you did a great job at recreating the game's animations and it's obvious a lot of work went into this. I don't really think it's that great a concept for a Flash movie, but you did a great job executing it.

I just don't get it.

No, I don't mean your movie - I mean responses from people who think it's too long. What're they expecting for 2.5 MB? A quick ten second clip? There's basically two types of movie lengths on NG, that's "load quick, see quick" and "let load in the background and then sit back and enjoy". This would obviously be the latter. And even though I dislike DBZ and Pokemon plus most of the bands whose music you used, I absolutely love the Kermit Kombat series. Great sense of humor, a helluva lot of work put into it... this should definitely be in the top 50.

Nothing short of astonishing.

This is the best thing I've ever seen in Flash.

Excellent. Especially for a first.

Stylishly done, interesting way of using dialogue in a movie (the rotating text). I do think that perhaps the sprites would've looked less puny at 200%. And I get the sneaking suspicion you borrowed some lines from Bob And George... "I'm just that good" and "My ultimate attack" come to mind, heh. Still, great job.

Protrozz responds:

Actually, megaman's ultimate attack was the 'pythagorian perpendicular jump kick' but that would be a total rip off, so i had to change it to something else quick, and the first thing that came to mind was him making mass suicidal clones. :p

Heartwarming.

Amazing how such a short, but very well-animated movie can be this nice. Great work.

this is art.

I was expecting a regular old Osama beating, but this was much better. Great job.
